Cody Bellinger Out of Base Path Call by Umpire Cory Blaser, But Was There Obstruction on Arenado?
Sorry this is off topic but my son (teen umpire) had a question that I don't know. Two man crew. B1 has two strikes. On the next pitch the ball is in the dirt and B1 checks his swing. U1 appeals to U2. U2 says swing so strike 3. Is it a dead ball when an umpire appeals to another umpire? Can B1 then try to run out dropped 3rd strike? If batter already started running does that change anything? Federation rules. Thanks.
when will these announcers be held accountable for there actions cause im personally tired of there mouths running so much
5 runs down...Manny choose you battles
I have an idea...any time an umpire ejects a player for arguing balls and strikes it should trigger an automatic review of the play. This does not enable the call to be overturned, but results in the ejection of the umpire if he is found to be wrong. Angel would've retired years ago under that system
So...... if you get rid of the umpire, who takes over calling balls and strikes then?
@@ericwildfong Clearly, they would pull someone from the stands. They think they are better than the umpire at calling balls and strikes anyway.
@@swanamaker Ah yes right of course 🙃
Y'all say the absolute dumbest shit.
@@EJayMD-11 It's the internet, what did you expect?
I don’t like Adam beck
Another trigger happy ump who got mad after making a factually bad call and took it out on anyone questioning them.
Ron Darling doesn't know what he's talking about.
most if not all announcers are like that... Even red sox they used to be good but its not good and i haven't heard any more from them as i don't have cable
A theory I've been hearing was that Machado got a warning for an equipment violation after the bat slam, which then primed the ejection when he went after the ump.
That was a good question at the end; who takes over for Shildt? It's very strange not having a bench coach...
Happened today in the NC State UF game at the college world series. The ball hit underneath the catchers mask and lodged under his chest protector and he could not find it. NC State coach questioned the play as a lodged ball....the 4 umpires discussed and said the ball was not lodged and was not reviewable. It was very clear to have been lodged. Bases were loaded at the time and NC State lost 5-4......
The call was right but the umpires still found a way to be unprofessional. It’s still amazing to me that Rob Thomson will probably get a suspension, but it’s perfectly fine for Laz Diaz to basically push the manager. Laz does this all the time and gets absolutely no discipline. This video conveniently leaves that part out. MLB umps are completely and totally out of control at this point.
Did Tommy Pham try to sucker-punch....sorry...sucker-SLAP...Joc Pederson again?
seems like most of machado's ejections are due to a language barrier.
No, he is just a punk. Manny was born and raised in the US. He understands English.
Looked like he knew a little French. 🤣
Huh? Have you heard him speak?
@@PapaVanTwee5 Eh. You gotta pardon his French a little bit... 🙃🤪
@@BobbySacamano "French" in this case is the bad language. When someone drops an "F" bomb they may say after, "pardon my french".
I think Manny would have been ok with the slam, he messed up by looking back at the UMP!!
Well, looking back at the umpire and talking
He didn't just "look back"
It's time to put in the automated zone. There's a lot of technology. Tennis already has an eye on it. It's not that they're removing the referee, but that when a strike occurs, they should notify the referee. It's something that can be done. It would be more precise and there would be less discussion.
Did you miss the entire part about it not being accurate in real time?
Look who didn't watch the video
Computer control strike
Remember that the tennis court lines are static. Much easier to discern ins and outs versus and constantly moving strike zone.
@@Renegade605 more accurate than the humans
Machado has somewhere to go and just wants to leave early.
To paraphrase Ron Darling there at the end...I wonder if these players ever think, "We're down by 5 late, we're going to get swept here in NY...I wonder if I cuss the plate umpire directly if he will throw me out of this game?"
Just saying f isn’t enough. It needs to be personal.
@@DJTexan Why does it need to be personal? Umpiring is a job. It’s a profession. There’s only 76 guys working that level full-time. What industry punishes its employees “personally”? No, that’s illegal in the U.S. You discipline employees professionally. Furthermore, this is a game. It’s meant to be fun. Coach gives the stop sign at 3B and the runner turns for home and is thrown out. Do the umpires get to tell the player or the coach they’re terrible, they’re horrible and they need to get better? No! So, why when an umpire misses one pitch in a 162 game season should coaches and players get to say whatever they want with impunity to the umpires?
@@1969EType It isn’t punishment. If you want to see punishment then read on how umpires were treated in the 1910s. Also, players, coaches, and managers aren’t umpires employers. If they were then we wouldn’t be able to eject them. They’re more like coworkers that are one step below us. If it isn’t personal then there’s no reason to eject unless you’re sensitive. If that’s the case stick to high school and lower baseball.
@@DJTexan you are one of the worst fans ever in the tired baseball world
@@critter2 I’m not a fan. I’m an umpire who remembers how much worse we’ve had it yet we wouldn’t complain, so it’s annoying to hear modern umpires complain when they have it easy. Out of you, teebob, and rayray, you’re the worst in the tired world of trolls.
I think the best way to stop this crap.. set a timer while the arguing is going on and for every 15 seconds of time.. Pitch Count violation an strikes called on the next guy (unless that call ended the inning.. the balls for the other teams hitter) just for the delay of game... These guys getting their MONEY'S WORTH may just give us and inning off...
I completely agree it's totally unprofessional. If you get ejected...leave. But, MLB thinks we all love this drama of seeing the coaches and players "getting their money's worth" and continuing the argument after the ejection so, it's tolerated. MLB looks more like WWE every year with this...
And if the call is wrong, then the umpires get fined.
@@DJTexan They do get fined and suspended…we just don’t hear about it. The game is not about the umpires. It’s about the players.
@@1969EType No. Umpires are just getting more sensitive. We put up with a lot more stuff than this but didn’t complain in 70s and 80s.
@@1969EType If we don’t hear about it then it doesn’t happen. With all the people calling for umpire accountability, we would know if they were suspended.
We have to support her!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Noooooooooooo
Ejection of the week imo
This was clearly a ball and over the plate. I find it interesting that with the foot on the line, if it hit him he would have gotten 1B. What if the ball were in the strike zone? Would he still get 1B after the ball hit him? I'm guessing not, but not the way this was explained.
Watching that game, it seemed to me that Thompson was more upset about the strikezone, and that calling Stubbs back was just the straw that broke the camels back. Estabrook only missed 6 calls, but it seemed like all of them went against Philly; Gunnar Henderson homered after he should've struck out to start the game, and in the 5th both Dahl and Stott struck out on pitches well off the plate to kill a rally that almost tied the game. It was also a hot day, and the Orioles had just broken the game open with 5 runs, so I get why Thompson was cranky.
I think the only criticism I would give is Valentine put himself in a rough place should the throw to first have gotten away from the first baseman. The runner trying to get to second would have had to maneuver around him. Which while the umpire is considered part of the field and thus it would have been the runner’s problem, that is not a situation you want to be in.
The only reason he "didn't interfere" is because they had to go around him to attempt the play. The first baseman had to bring his glove all the way across his body to make the catch, instead of the pitcher throwing it directly at him. While it might not be considered interference in a word-by-word parsing of the rule, it should be. I think the MLB would frown on intentionally throwing at players just to get an interference call, though I'd be curious to see what their reaction would be if the manager suggested it in the post-game.
I truly and deeply lament the rapid metastasizing of sports betting throughout all aspects of the game.
I'm not sure that you can't successfully argue that the batter made no attempt to avoid the pitch.
This confused me too. She mentioned having to attempt to get out of the way a couple times. But the batter didn't move their foot at all. Doesn't that mean they didn't attempt to get out of the way?
They said Wheeler had a bad day. I disagree, wheelers day was fine because he got paid a lot to basically lose a game. Who had a bad day, the fans of the Phillies, also those that paid plenty to travel from Philadelphia to Baltimore, paid plenty for tickets, paid plenty for refreshments, parking, the list goes on. At 40 million a year???? Wheelers day was, as I said, just fine.
Ottanis interpreter said that Ottani covered his gambling debt. Then MLB dragged the conversation into a coverup. MLB treats its fans like fools. Ottani threw a game on 7/22/22 Timmy_Smokes had it right the first time

I cheered up dramatically seeing the DS9 scene with Odo and Sisko ^^
Why have a rule incentivizing the fielder to bean the runner? Silly...
Okay, now you *must* do a breakdown of the stupid "going into the dugout to tag out a Vulcan" from DS9. You brought in Odo, so this is on you. :)
It looked like the pitch didn't hit Stubbs's foot. So there's that. I missed the game, but as a Phils fan, their manager, "Topper", is not a hothead. But it's been a long, tricky week for the team and I think he needed to vent. Kudos to this site for clearly delineating the rules in question.
I’d be upset too if I was losing to the worst team in the MLB
suspend him
Nope. It wasn’t intentional.
Jim Palmer and MASN Orioles announcers have no idea what they are doing. Almost every week Palmer stupidly says "eveyone knows tie goes to the runner".
Does it seem like the pitcher altered his throw slightly when he spun around? To me, yes.....and the reason is that the runner clearly moved further onto the grass after taking a little peak over his shoulder! By the letter of the law, it appears that call is correct....but for me, that is intentional interference by the runner all day.
Uncle Fester don't like Robbie? Dr. Evil was seen jawing, and wanted be called powder! It's all, so confusing!
So he got ejected for nothing.. AGAIN.. and with why he got the heave-ho... he'll probably be getting supplemental too...
No he won’t. It wasn’t intentional.
@@DJTexan since when did intent have anything to do with that? Even accidental is too close while arguing...
@@ronpeacock9939 Clearly says intentional in the rulebook.

The only possible way a team could be losing to the White Sox is if the Umpire is making mistakes.
That manager was one anrgy bird.
John Kruk, ... retired MLB player who played for YEARS ... has NO EFFING CLUE what he's talking about, ... EVER. You think the guy would get at least ONE RULE correct now and again .........NOPE!🙄
No attempt to avoid it.
I'd hate to post because there are 42 comments. But someone's gotta do it.
Once again.. What makes this channel SO good is they cover these and explain them in great detail. BUT, Lind takes the EXTRA TIME to then cover how the rules differ in other levels of baseball! Way too many players, coaches and fans have no idea the rules are different. Hell, I have worked with several umpires who don't know the difference between OBR and NFHS! I try to get everyone to watch this channel! It's the best on YT by a long shot
"...and yes, that score is correct." What's THAT supposed to mean?!
This page has a bias against the Phillies. Thomson was completely justified in his argument. Baltimore should’ve had to use a challenge on that.
I love how little the commentators actually understand the rules. My dad isn't kidding when he said he could do that too. Just amazes me how they don't get the rules of the game they watch for a living
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 oh WOW
